Therefore, I have listed below the accomplishments of Sarah Palin during her short time in politics:
- In January of 2004, she resigned as head of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission after complaining to the Governor and the state Attorney General about ethical violations by another commissioner who was then also the Republican state chairman. Although Palin was barred by state law from speaking out publicly, that commissioner agreed to pay a $12,000 fine for breaking state ethics laws.
- In 2005, she joined with Eric Croft, a Democrat, in lodging an ethics complaint against then Attorney General Gregg Renkes. The Attorney General resigned a few weeks later.
- She won the primary for Governor in a three-way race in 2006 in a landslide with 51% of the vote. She then defeated former Democratic Governor Tony Knowles in the general election, 49% to 41%, and has since had an approval rating of between 65% and 90%, higher than any other Governor in the country.
- This past spring, she used her line-item veto to cut $268 million from state spending bills.
- She saved Federal taxpayers $400 million by opposing the infamous "bridge to nowhere" and redirected the money to more appropriate infrastructure programs.
- She replaced entire Alaska Board of Agriculture and Conservation because of conflict of interest.
- She passed a landmark ethics reform bill.
- She also passed a tax increase on oil company profits and as a result of state wind-fall profits from this tax, will soon deliver $1,200 to every Alaska resident.
- She sold the private jet that the former Governor purchased for $1.2.
- As Commander in Chief of the Alaskan National Guard, in July, 2007, she visited Alaskan troops serving in a support role in Kuwait and others being treated at the American military hospital in Landsduhl, Germany.
My challenge is for readers of the blog to include Obama's accomplishments in their comments so readers can compare the accomplishments of both candidates.

The proposed comparison of nominated VP and Presidential Candidate doesn't seem to be all that relevant, at least in my opinion. I wouldn't compare the resume of myself with the President of my company and I wouldn't think a potential client would either.
I would be happy to see a comparison between Biden and Palin as that would be a more apples to apples scenario, IMO anyhow
But if concerns about McCain's longevity and Palin being "a heartbeat from the presidency" are relevant, then this comparison is relevant too. If you have no concern about Palin becoming president, then we can compare how well VP Palin would represent the U.S. at head of state funerals with how well VP Biden would represent us. With Biden's habit of shooting from the lip, she'd be a better pick there too.
Concerns about either VP being a heartbeat from the presidency could be relevant which, brings us back to comparing Biden and Palin. That can be done with reference in how they may perform in that position.
I just don't see how comparing someone who has been running for president and knocking off opponents for nearly 2 years to get to this point with someone who was chosen with as much haste as I choose which ben and jerry's ice cream bears relevance here.
The experience arguement was created by your guy who goes around calling out anyone and everyone less experienced (he's been alive longer than the Alaska has been recognized as a state!). And the arguement was ended by your guy when he went and picked Palin.
As far as shooting from the lip with Biden, let us keep a gaffe count over the next 60+ days.
And, something to compare your original post on how much Palin has achieved during her short time in office. Here are some of the things that she believes:
A Synopsis:
Abortion BAD
ANWR Drilling GOOD
Capital Punishment GOOD
Creationism GOOD
Global Warming FAKE
Guns GOOD
Marijuana BAD
Same Sex Marriage BAD
Sex Ed BAD
Iraq is about OIL which is nonsensical = SEND SON!
Wildlife Conservation BAD
Seems like taking residence up in Alaska has kept Sarah safely removed from reality heck, she didn't even had a passport until 2007!

I certainly understand your reluctance to compare Obama's record of non-accomplishment with Palin's. Although they are both light in experience, Obama's record is so light in real accomplishment as to be invisible. And let's not forget, he is running for President not VP.
By the way, I agree that he is an expert at the task of running for office and like many politicos before him, he does so by avoiding all specifics about the grandiose commitments that he makes. No CHANGE there. His own party appears to have lost patience with that tactic and suggested that he gets real.
Having a passport means nothing if it sits in a drawer. Palin visited her troops in the middle east in 2007 and Obama did not visit until he was challenged to do so by McCain. He then appears to have used the ocassion to run for president of Germany. He may have been trying to get ahead of Michael Phelps by winning more than one presidency.
As far as your Palin synopsis, it is correct and I bet she won't be changing it in an attempt to pander to every voting block (Palestine should remain undivided, or divided, depending on the audience, Michelle should have a voice, or no voice, depending on how much trouble she gets into, etc.)
Gaffe count challenge accepted. Based on his extraordinary record, I have utter confidence in Biden's ability to retain his title as the loose cannon of the senate.
Still hoping you will find something positive to contribute about Obama's record of accomplishment but truly understand your dilemma.
How much of Obama's proposals have you read?
In regards to his own party getting tired of his tactic, I believe that once he became the presumptive nominee we started to see concrete outlines of his agenda, something more than a slogan like "country first" and then an adoption of the last 8 years.
and now, Mccain the Flip Flopper
* McCain criticized TV preacher Jerry Falwell as “an agent of intolerance” in 2002, but has since decided to cozy up to the man who said Americans “deserved” the 9/11 attacks. (Indeed, McCain has now hired Falwell’s debate coach.)
* McCain used to oppose Bush’s tax cuts for the very wealthy, but he reversed course in February.
* In 2000, McCain accused Texas businessmen Sam and Charles Wyly of being corrupt, spending “dirty money” to help finance Bush’s presidential campaign. McCain not only filed a complaint against the Wylys for allegedly violating campaign finance law, he also lashed out at them publicly. In April, McCain reached out to the Wylys for support.
* McCain supported a major campaign-finance reform measure that bore his name. In June, he abandoned his own legislation.
* McCain used to think that Grover Norquist was a crook and a corrupt shill for dictators. Then McCain got serious about running for president and began to reconcile with Norquist.
* McCain took a firm line in opposition to torture, and then caved to White House demands.
* McCain gave up on his signature policy issue, campaign-finance reform, and won’t back the same provision he sponsored just a couple of years ago.
* McCain was against presidential candidates campaigning at Bob Jones University before he was for it.
* McCain was anti-ethanol. Now he’s pro-ethanol.
* McCain was both for and against state promotion of the Confederate flag.
* And now he’s both for and against overturning Roe v. Wade.

Also, McCain wanted Lieberman for his VP but the Christian right lashed out and threatened demonstrations on the floor at the convention so, he picked Palin. Seems like he isn't a man with his own position or, anything to win.
I guess if Palin doesn't change her position then at least that is 1 person on the ticket that won't. Never trust a self proclaimed "Maverick".
Great list of erroneous information directly from Steve Benen, the single blogger of the carpetbaggerreport.com who worked as an intern for the Clinton White House's Office of Speechwriting, then moved to writing direct mail pieces for a major Democratic consulting firm and now freelances for the Huffington Post and other far-left blogs. How these lefties do stick together.
But the search for Obama's actual accomplishments goes on. There are rumors that he did in fact accomplish something of value during his first and only term as senator from Illinois but so far, these rumors remain unsubstantiated.
I'd like to see you prove that the flip flop information in regards to McCain are in fact erroneous.
I'll be waiting for your fact checking.
In regards to Obama you can see loads of information here:

or here:

I am sure these two websites will give you plenty of information on Obama, his political, academic, legal and community based career.
I'm sure you will find that it is all hokey superficial fluff but then again its not like he was governing a population 27.5% the size of Brooklyn for 2 years or driving the kids to hockey practice.
